What is the Distinguished Alumni Award?

With the cooperation of the District, the Foundation established the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018.  This Award was created to help make Northampton High School students, graduates, and community members more award of the outstanding graduates and role models produced by the District. The Foundation’s goal was to establish a Distinguished Alumni Wall of Honor in the main lobby of the High School, and with the support of Superintendent Kovalchik and then NAHS principal Robert Steckel, that wall is now a reality.  A plaque for each of the twenty two 2018 through 2021 DAA Honorees has now been installed on the wall, and it is the sincere hope that the plaques and the Northampton Area School District graduates they represent will serve as an inspiration and a point of pride to all of our students, and as a reminder to our entire community of Northampton Area School District’s proud education tradition.

The process of identifying Distinguished Alumni Award Honorees begins with the nomination of graduates for the Award.  A Distinguished Alumni Award nominee must have graduated at least 15 years ago from NAHS and should reflect the District’s proud tradition of producing outstanding graduates and role models who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in their professional and personal lives.  A nominee does not need to be a current resident of the District, but the nominee should reflect some of the following criteria:

 - a person who has achieved outstanding success in his/her chosen profession/field of employment

 - a person who has performed substantial community service or volunteer work

 - a person who has made a positive impact on others

 - a person who has received special recognition or awards for professional accomplishments/community service

Posthumous nominations will be accepted.

Any interested person may nominate a Northampton Area High School graduate who meets the criteria described above. To nominate a person for this award, a Distinguished Alumni Award NOMINATION Form must be completed and submitted as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, March 20, 2023. These forms and necessary information for completing the Nomination Form are available on this page of the Foundation’s website. All submitted Nomination Forms will be carefully reviewed by the Distinguished Alumni Award Committee, and the selected DAA Honoree(s) will be notified in April 2023.

Any/All Honorees who accept this Award will be asked to attend the Foundation’s Distinguished Alumni Wall of Honor Award CELEBRATION event on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville. Each honoree is encouraged to join the DAA Committee in inviting family, friends, colleagues, and community members to attend the event and join in the festivities! The CELEBRATION begins with a reception hour of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by an outstanding dinner that precedes the Recognition and Award program.  This CELEBRATION is a major Foundation fundraiser. All proceeds from the event will be used to “promote, enhance, and supplement educational and co-curricular programs by providing extended learning opportunities and experiences for the benefit of students within the Northampton Area School District.”
